Alpine Dreams (2025) for piano solo

Program Notes:

In the summer of 2025, I served as an Artist-in-Residence at Rocky Mountain National Park, living and working at the historic William Allen White Cabin in the heart of the park. Surrounded by sweeping landscapes, snow-capped peaks, and abundant wildlife, I was inspired to compose this new work for piano, Alpine Dreams.

Each section of the piece reflects a specific source of inspiration. The opening evokes the magnificent mountain vistas seen from the William Allen White Cabin, my home during the residency. The following section draws on the delicate birdsong of the Mountain Chickadee and the Ruby-crowned Kinglet. Next comes a passage portraying the flowing waters of Fern Falls and Alberta Falls. Finally, the opening music returns, bringing the work to a reflective close.
